Go Hokies

This weekend my parents took us to a football game for Brents birthday.  I think thats the best way to spend a birthday and so glad Brent agreed!  And really there is nothing better than spending a saturday in Blacksburg.
 Thanks Mom and Dad!

Joel was not into a picture

Norah was so excited about the bikes. Just like Colin was when he was about this age.
This year they had what they called "hokie village" next to the stadium with free bounce houses and lots going on.  The boys loved it. Norah not so much.  It was loud and she freaked out when the marching virginians walked by. She is not a fan of loud noises.  I was a little worried this would be the first time in 8 years I would have to leave the stadium with one of my kids.  But thankfully when we got in there she was fine.
Joel went from loving every minute of it to asking when it was over to wanting to stay to asking when we would be headed back to the farm and go to the creek.  I told him we would walk down to the creek before we went home but he thought that meant that day.  So when we got in the car after the game and it got dark (we didnt get back to the farm until 11pm) he would cry about every 20 minutes "you lied! you said we would go to the creek!  lets get colin (Colin rode in the car with ant ant and my parents) and go home! You lied!" When he woke up at the farm the next morning he was all smiles and ready to go to the creek.  Oh Joel.
Thankfully when we got into the stadium she didnt seem to mind the noise.

My dad got us great seats but it was in the middle of the student section and we are old and want to sit down and watch the game.  Plus Joel and Norah like to move around so we ended up in the away team (haha W&M maybe had 50 people there) and had several rows to ourselves.  Sarah and Colin came up to meet us and gave up their very very close seats.  Not sure Colin was too excited about that!
Joel and Norah were about done at the end of the third quarter so I took them down to play in the grass behind the stadium for a few minutes.
These two.... she loves him....at times...At the farm there was a yellow jacket nest on the back porch so we kept the kids off of it while my dad sprayed the nest.  There is a hammock on the back porch so Norah kept pointing out the window and telling me "bed mommy. bed.  Joely sleep on bed outside!"  She kept saying Joel was sleeping there so I told her "norah there are bees out there. Joel's not sleeping there."  And if I wasn't watching her face I would've missed it but she responded by an evil grin and then quickly "oh no..... joel no sleep with bees"  Sweet girl sometimes she is not!  Norah knows exactly how to push Joel's buttons.  She treats him differently than she does Colin.  She will let Colin push her in the stroller but not Joel.  Or let Colin sit next to her and not Joel.  I'm thinking a few hours away from him during the day and she'll realize how much she misses him.  She always has to know what her Joely is doing at all times and plays with him the most.  Joel can get her laughing the hardest but also makes her the maddest.
 This boy loves football.
Joel, Norah and I ended up next to the MV's for the end of the game.  Norah wasn't scared then but maybe watching the cheerleaders helped and the fact they were looking for the hokie bird.
Colin and Grandpa.  Colin's personality is a mix between my brother and dad.  He may look all Goedecke but he is just like his uncle and grandpa.
