Super Heros

Our church holds a chili cookoff every year and lets the kids dress up in their costumes.  It was yesterday and I asked Colin what he wanted to be - and after changing it several times over the week he chose a super hero.  And he wanted me to help him make it. We made the shirt and the arm cuffs.  I already had the mask and cape.  He designed it and I think he made such a cute super hero.  He was so proud of his arm cuff things and I'm so glad.
And we can't forget our little super hero.  He ended up being "super J" - although all week he's been running around in nothing but a diaper and his cape so Colin has been calling him "super diaper" and Joel thought that was great.
He insisted on wearing his safety goggles (which i guess Brent could've borrowed a few weeks ago...) I think the goggles makes the costume for him.
We aren't sure what we are doing tomorrow for Halloween.  If Colin comes home from school wanting to do something we might go to a friends church for their festival.  I am going to have a bag of candy waiting for him when he gets home so hopefully that will be enough :)  Our weeks are so busy that I'm almost hoping for a night home tomorrow night.  So we'll see.  But my super heros are very cute it might be hard not to want to go somewhere and show them off.

Marshmallow Shooters

This summer I found some mini marshmallow shooters for less than $1 and figured summer was not the best time to show the boys since we'd have sticky melted marshmallows everywhere.  Friday was the day I brought them out.
They had a lot of fun and thankfully I thought ahead to put just a handful of the mini marshmallows into little baggies for them.  I told them once their bags were empty then they had to wait until later to get some more.
They soon learned it was a lot more fun to eat the marshmallows than shoot them.

It was fun.  I think we'll be bringing them out a lot this winter to get the boys outside.

Imagination

One may see these blocks and think just blocks.
My son sees dinosaurs, cats and dogs.  He was very proud of his creations.

Hunt club Farm

We spent an afternoon at Hunt Club Farm a few days ago. It was a beautiful day. The kids enjoyed petting/feeding the animals.  It was probably not the best place to take my asthmatic child without his inhaler.  I forgot how dusty it all is.  It was still a fun afternoon with my boys.

Baby #3....

IS A GIRL!!!!!

I had her look several times to make sure.  And this little girl didn't want her picture taken so I have to go back in two weeks for another ultrasound to make sure her heart is ok. She kept her back to us and wouldn't turn no matter what we did.  So they saw 2 chambers I think but need to check out all 4.  So I get to go look at her again.  Brent teared up.  Colin's face fell.  It took me a minute to register GIRL because the technician told us right away she could tell what it was so I was sure boy.  Joel repeated over and over in the car "iza girl" I think Colin is over his disappointment. Especially a new box of legos from the baby always helps.  And knowing a little sister will be into dolls and not his legos (so he thinks) helps a lot for him.

And now we get to venture into the world of pink. It'll be fun.

Pumpkin Carving

Last night we finally found time to carve our pumpkins. Joel never got to carve his green one - it was mushy by the time we got around to carving them but he never once asked where his baby punkin went so our replacement worked well.  I bought a pumpkin carving kit and its really amazing for kids. They boys liked using their saw like tools and it really worked.

Joel had fun with the pumpkin seeds.

When Joel was done with his pumpkin he went over to try to help Colin.
Daddy told Joel that he had to work on his pumpkin and to let Colin do his own.  You can see what Joel thought about that.  ha! Colin worked hard at his pumpkin and it turned out great.
Still playing with the pumpkin seeds
He was very proud of this.  He kept laughing at his pumpkin throwing up the seeds. And he's only 2.  haha but it made the rest of us laugh too.
They turned out well.  Joel just likes to sing Happy Birthday and then blow out his candle.  Then ask to have it lit again.  Colin thought once you were done with your pumpkin you paraded it around the town.  Not sure where he got that but they are on our table right now.  We might eat our dinner by "pumpkin light" tonight since I just haven't gotten around to taking them outside.

Pirates and Super Heros

This guy has been into pirates again lately.  For the past two weeks he will come home from school and put on his pirate costume.  We will then go looking for treasure all afternoon. I am his first mate.  Its pretty fun to pretend with him and "dig" for gold and jewels. The fort is our pirate ship and we have to set the sails and raise/lower the anchor as needed.  We even sometimes battle Captain Blackbeard sometimes.
Usually Joel is napping at this point but sometimes a little super hero joins in the fun.
And sometimes a super hero has to take a break from searching for treasure to cut the grass.

beach time

We've spent a few evenings down by the beach this fall. It is my favorite time to go to the beach.  No crowds and its just fun for the boys to run up and down the beach/play on the playground. These are all a little grainy since they were taken with brents phone.  I keep forgetting to bring my camera.
The first time the boys rushed straight for the water. Joel managed to soak both me and him. Then they went to this HUGE sand dune and got covered in sand as they rolled down it.  And Colin liked to bury himself in the sand.  Both Colin and Joel fall asleep in the car before we are out of the parking garage.  Its an easy night for us. We just pick them up and put them in bed - sand and all :)

Tools

I think someone needs to organize his tool bench again.
Then he wouldn't have to use Joel's goggles when he works on our attic.

Pumpkin patch

Saturday after soccer we went to the pumpkin patch that is right next to Colin's soccer fields.
Joel likes to say he's "five" like Bubba.
We took a hay ride pulled by horses.  That was Joel's face the whole time.
The kids had fun looking for their pumpkins. Colin wouldn't even look at a green pumpkin this year. His had to be all orange and perfectly round.  And he found one.
At the very end Joel found a "baby pun-kin" and was so proud of it.  He has carried it around the whole house but yesterday found some chopsticks and was sticking them into the pumpkin so I think the green one will get carved tonight.  We had a great morning and the weather was perfect.
And since I'm 18.5/19 weeks now my baby should be the size of a sweet potato or mango..... not a pumpkin yet :)
