Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
We have had a wonderful Christmas. The kids are so fun to watch and their excitement leading up to Christmas is so much fun.
This year Norah understood more and really got into the wrapping and taping each present. We went through many many many rolls of tape.
We tried to get a family picture.  This was as good as we got.
And this one of Joel makes me laugh.
Christmas Eve we made gingerbread houses.
And ate all the candy

Then since it was raining outside, Norah ran around in circles to come off the sugar high.
Christmas morning Norah was up first and was making a lot of noise and then I heard Colin sit up in bed and yell "its Christmas" and then everyone was up.
My three favorite gifts right there

The kids were so sweet giving their gifts.  Norah made Ant Ant a necklace and I caught her on the ipad trying to facetime Ant Ant at work that she had a surprise for Ant Ant under the tree and it was a dead die!

Norah at one point went over to the tree and said "what about this present," sat down and then quickly opened it and I wish I had video taped the excitement to having her open her blankies.  She had wrapped them up without us knowing and then it was THE BEST PRESENT EVER when she opened it.  Next year I'll just wrap up all her favorite toys! ha!

We all got slippers so we will be nice and comfy this winter.
Brent gave the boys a trip to DC to see the wizards play this winter.  He wrapped up tshirts and then had a note saying they were going away for the weekend for a game. Colin was so excited and I wish I had a picture of Joels face because he was NOT excited and slightly terrified he would have to go to a basketball game.  So we will see if he ends up going

Little princess was really fun to shop for this Christmas.  All things sparkly and glittery.

Mary got Norah and I a ton of costume jewelry.  Norah has had a lot of fun with that already.  And so have I.

Our pretty peacock!  Or peacock Elsa as Norah calls herself.

Colin read the Hobbit last year and tonight will go see the final movie.  He also read Harry Potter with me this year and I gave him the movie set so he and I will be watching those this week as well.  So Ma-ma-maa and Grandpa gave him Lord of the Rings since he has to read the books before he watches the movies.  These will keep him busy for a long time this year.

Matching Christmas sweaters.
The best gift was Mary surprising us.  She wasn't going to be able to come home for Christmas but she came down Christmas Eve and surprised us all.  We didn't know until we went over Christmas morning and her car was in the driveway.  Best present!  So glad she came home.
A wonderful Christmas.  After dinner we brought the kids home so Joel could work on his lego creations. Joel had started begging to go home saying "I want to go home RIGHT now.  I want to build my lego set.  It's almost dark. I can't build it in the dark because they will make me go to bed.  Tomorrow IS TOO late. I want to go home. I want to go home now."

SO we took him home and I drove back over to give mary her gifts (we hadn't brought them since we weren't going to see her until later) and to watch Christmas in Connecticut with my sisters and parents.  Best Christmas ever.  Next year we are planning on going to see our wandering hokies in Germany for Christmas so hoping it all works out since its been years since we've all been together at Christmas.

On the way home I asked the boys what their favorite parts about Christmas was and Colin said watching me open up the book he got me and how exciting it was watching me open it.  Joel was in the back seat thinking and then replied "I still think getting gifts is way better than giving them!!!!"  Haha oh Joel

Smile

I told him to smile big
Just love him

Christmas town

We went to Christmas town last week with mom and dad and had a great time. I took a lot of pictures with my good camera but right after I downloaded them to the computer or computer decided it was done working. So hopefully we can get those back.
Norah loved the tutu ballerina she saw at one of the shows and has asked daily to go back and see the tutu ballerina. She was in awe. Colin is ready to go back and ride all the roller coasters and Joel is hoping he grows a few more inches to be able to ride all the big rides. There was one reindeer ride that went in circles. Norah was sitting with me, Joel with Brent and Colin by himself. Mom and dad were laughing because Norah was terrified, Joel loving it, and Colin completely bored. Norah told me she "no like Rudolph's game!" Haha
A really fun night. And glad mom and dad came with us!

Queen

Norah and I go to story hour at the library each week and she loves her "class" and especially loves that she gets homework which is a paper to color. She drags that paper out each night the boys do their homework and is so proud.

This week when the teacher handed out the papers Norah took her paper and very loudly and proudly exclaimed to everyone "ooooo it's a picture of me!!!!"

Santa

Since we were at the farm we had to go to the Southern States Santa.  I just love this Santa.  Its so much fun every time.
Norah didn't  like Santa

I think Santa figured out pretty quick he wasn't going to win her over.
 Maybe next year.
Colin asked for a laptop and Andes Chocolate Mints
And then  had fun talking with Santa.  He always takes a long time with each kid and its so entertaining to watch. The kids dont mind waiting in line because its really fun seeing Santa with each child/pet.  He is magical and if ever there was a real Santa this one is it.  Its free and you can take your own pictures but even if you had to pay it would be worth every penny.

Joel asked for legos and also a laptop (since Colin asked for a laptop)  And I'm pretty sure if he got the laptop he would immediately give it to Colin.  Sweet boy. Santa isn't bringing either of them a laptop but the andes mints and legos might arrive christmas morning.

I just love this one of Santa and Joel
Santa asked Joel what Joel was getting him for Christmas and Joel said nothing.  haha I think Joel will remember to put out christmas cookies and milk this year!
One year I'm going to video tape it.  Its just a backdrop and a chair for Santa in the middle of a tool isle and nothing special.  The mall displays are much more impressive. But this one is magical everytime. Even if the farm is sold I told Sarah we were going to go stay with her and drive to see this Santa.
