Ghost

Our neighborhood had a costumed bike parade/Halloween party the other day. Norah was Anna and after I braided her hair she looked at herself and asked if we thought people would know it was really  Norah. So cute.

Joel was a glow in the dark skeleton that I made. It turned out much better than I thought.

And sadly I didn't get any good pictures of Joel or Norah but I did get some of Colin.

He has said for weeks he just wanted to be a ghost and put a white sheet over his head. And after making Joel's costume I was glad Colin was so easy. Done and done. So easy and I thought he looked really cool. Especially biking around with the sheet billowing behind him.

We biked down to the starting point and one boy looked at Colin and said "that's just a sheet. Store bought costumes were much better"  Kinda fitting that the boy was dressed as darth vader! The dark side already!  The great thing about Colin is that he didn't care. He loves his sheet and didn't want to change at all.  I hope and pray Colin always has that confidence and doesn't worry about what other people think.

This is the only picture I got with all three.

Cooker

I made soup that everyone loved tonight. No more I hate peas or I don't like potatoes in my soup it's ruined. It's nice sometimes for the kids to get older. The boys requested it for their lunches tomorrow so they must have liked it.

Then as I'm taking an apple crisp out of the oven I overhear the boys talking.

Colin: moms the best cooker in the world

Joel: no she's not

Colin: how can you say that

Joel: we don't know many people so we don't know if she's the best in the world

Norah: we know people. We know Matthew, Julianna, Preston....

Apple picking

Last night we left for the farm as soon as the boys got off the bus. Mom and dad were there so we planned on staying the night then going apple picking today.

Fall leaves haven't started around our house so it was fun seeing all the trees as we drove up. The trees and fields were so pretty at the farm.  This morning the kids went out to the fields and picked some pears.

We loved this one yellow tree at the farm.
Colin dragged these chairs out to the tree, sat under it and just looked up.

The kids played a little outside this morning and we got to see Uncle David and then we left to go apple picking.
Norah was a little less than thrilled at first.

We picked a lot and now for apple pie, apple crisp, applesauce....
