Milk

Joel:

Mom you know the expiration date on the milk?

Me:

Yes....

Joel:

I wrote it down in my school planner so I wouldn't forget

We don't drink milk anymore here and haven't been eating much cereal.  Dairy doesn't really agree with Joel so if he had to pick cheese or cereal in the morning he would generally pick cheese.  Lately I only buy a small container of milk but I thought it was because we must’ve let some milk go bad.

Turns out tonight he payed such attention to the milk so he could chug the milk the day before it expired

Teacher emails

Its always great to get emails like this. Colin is an incredible kid and its great when his teachers also recognize that as well.

Piano Lessons

Norah and I just signed up  piano lessons. We've only had one lesson so far but both of us loved it. I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano.  We have different piano books but are basically learning the same things.  Which is really helpful.  And having Norah practice every day hasn't been hard.  One of our neighbors teaches out of her house so we just have to walk down.  Well I drive down because I have mine right before I leave to go pick up Norah.  I told Miss Melissa that I felt lazy driving but wanted to make sure I maximized my lesson time with her and not be late to get Norah.
Joel has also taken an interest in the piano.  Each time I ask him if he wants me to sign him up he will tell me that I can just keep teaching him all that I'm learning.

career test

Sometime this fall Colin's class took a career assessment test.  Kids were getting FBI agents, engineers, teachers, scientists, etc.

Colin got NANNY!  haha he came home laughing about it.  He's such an easy going kid.  But then its really not hard to picture him as a nanny:
He's really great with kids. The younger kids in the neighborhood adore him.

Black eyed peas

We started out 2019 with our black eyed peas for good luck and collard greens for wealth.

But not before we FORGOT NORAH!  It was 70 degrees and we were outside putting the kids trampoline together.  We got half of it put together and then got in the car to head to Jeffs for our black eyed peas.  I ran inside to grab some food I was bringing and then had to run back inside to get this playdoh set Ant Ant forgot on Christmas (the kids couldn't wait to give it to her - its a dental set with teeth you can drill out.  Ant Ant has nightmares about her teeth falling out and the kids couldn't wait to give it to her..... she didn't find it as great as they did and forgot to bring it home with her)
So after running back in the house twice Brent had backed out of the garage and we headed out of the neighborhood. I handed back the play doh set behind me to Joel without looking back and he said "what about Norah." we said what about Norah you hold the playdoh set.  And he said she's not here!!!!!

She wasn't in the car at all!  So we quickly turned around and fully expected her to be running down the street after us.  But she wasn't. She was in her room packing up a backpack full of toys to play with on the drive over.

What amazes me is that Colin never said a word.  He noticed she wasn't there at all.  Poor Norah. The boys couldn't stop laughing that we had forgotten her at home. Norah didn't eat a single pea.... she probably should've considering we left without her.  She might need all the good luck to survive this year that she can get!

Christmas Town

The Sunday after Christmas we took the kids to Christmas Town.  We had met Heather and HOlly at the Zoo a few days before and Heather had mentioned they had gotten tickets for Sunday.  So we decided to go too. I think halfway through the night Colin looked over at me and Heather and said "wait did you guys plan meeting up together?"
It was a lot of fun.  And Joel had Becca who also doesn't like the roller coasters.  Sadly they are both too tall to go on the little kid rides but thankfully there was plenty of Christmas things for them to do while Colin was riding the big rides.

We saw Santa and thanked him for our Christmas gifts.

Somehow Joel and Becca didn't believe us that the tea cup ride was worse than some of the others they could ride.

We got home around midnight but it was well worth it.  Such a fun day and extra fun with friends.

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas!
Santa brought Joel a Yellie - you yell at the spider and he moves

Norah made Brent a coupon book.

Norah got her first American girl doll.  This is me with my American girl doll. Samantha needs to go to the doll hospital.

Colin made this desk caddy for Ant Ant in his technology class. He couldn't wait to give it to her.

It was a great day!
