Strawberry Picking

The kids had been asking if we could still go strawberry picking. I had been watching the Facebook pages of the strawberry fields in our areas and finally saw that they were open for picking. They said if you wear a mask you could go pick. So one day last week I surprised the kids and drove them to pungo pizza to pick up food. We ate it in the car and then drove to pick strawberries.

Colin told me while we were eating “thanks mom. I needed to get out of the house” I think we are all feeling this quarantine.

Brent said the kids look mad. Norah kept telling me she was smiling! Joel said we will never know if he was smiling or not.  It’s the masks. When I go to the grocery store everyone looks angry behind their masks.

It was a beautiful day and good to keep a tradition alive. Strawberries and pungo pizza are always our favorite. We are hoping that by the time blueberry picking starts we can actually go inside pungo pizza.

Mask

Wayyyy back in the beginning of March Joel stayed home from school for a sore throat. By night it was getting worse and he was running a slight fever so I took him into patient first so he could get a strep test. Everyone was wearing masks. Even the doctors walking around. It was a little eerie. We had just started hearing of corona virus so we also put on masks and waited for them to call him back. They did a flu test on him (he did have a cough that lasted a month) but his strep test came back positive so I was glad I had taken him in. I should’ve grabbed a few extra masks to take home but we thought that was the end of wearing a mask.  And as a side note Joel broke out in the amoxicillin rash a week after he started taking it so no more amoxicillin for him anymore.

Since it looks like we will be wearing masks everywhere for the unforeseeable future, I got out my sewing machine and Norah’s very first sewing project was her very own mask. She’s so proud of it and did it all herself.

Camping

The past 3 years we’ve gone to camp bullfrog over spring break. Even with all the corona virus shutdowns we were able to still go because it’s on private property. Our friend takes care of the camp part of this property so they invited us to come along. They stayed the entire week. We went for just 1 night because the other nights the temps dropped into the 30s. We’ve done that and refuse to do it again! Ha! Norah was upset until she realized how cold it was when we came home and were putting all out camping gear away.  As we were driving home Brent said how nice it was to feel like normal life. To not have to worry about corona virus. It was a nice break from reality right now.

Tomahawk throwing, shooting range, fishing for hours. The kids love this camp.

Easter walk

We took the kids to walk around the arboretum for something fun to do on Easter. And to get out of the house. I’m glad they haven’t closed that yet.

Then we went home and dyed eggs
