Snow Tubing

We decided since the snow isn't coming to us that we would go to the snow.  The kids had a long weekend so we went to Mom and Dads on Friday and then drove to Winterplace to snow tube on Saturday. The kids were excited that it snowed on us while we were there.

Now we are hoping that all of Norah's snow dances will bring us some snow days this winter.

We drove back to Mom and Dads house where they had soup waiting for us for dinner.

That night in the bath Joel started yelling "MOM!MOM!" I rush into the bath thinking maybe he couldn't figure out the drain or had slipped or something.  He was in the empty bath saying "I've made a terrible decision!!!! I let all the warm water out and now I'm cold!!" Terrible decision indeed.

Violin

In 5th grade they have the opportunity to take strings twice a week.  They use one of their PE times and then their music class each week. Colin had decided that he didn't want to give up PE so he did recorder.  Joel came home wanting to do strings because his friend Nathan (that was in a difference class) was taking strings and if he took strings he could be with Nathan.  And they even ended up sitting next to each other.

They had their first concert this month and will have another one in May.

He isn't a fan of practicing. And he has already decided that he wants to do Art and Technology in middle school so we wont be continueing with the violin.

But its been fun watching him play.  And I loved watching him walk off the stage.

Christmas Town

The weekend after New Years we went to Christmas Town.  The weather was perfect and we didn't have to wait for any ride except the train.

We brought Ant Ant with us.

All of the characters were there except for Santa.  As Norah told me Santa was already on his vacation in the Bahamas! ha!
Norah still isn't a fan of the tea cups

A great way to extend Christmas!

New year

The kids went back to school yesterday - January 2nd. Joel came home and said during recess he polled all the kids to see what was trending for 2020. Ha! I love him!

He also came home before Christmas with this.
If you can’t read it around the edges it says “My favorite thing about Christmas break is imagining the penguins in the North Pole working on banana plantations”

Basketball game

While we were in Blacksburg we got to go to a basketball game. It was Norahs first time seeing a game in Cassell and she made it on the Jumbotron, saw the Hokie Bird, and watched dogs jump rope at the halftime show so she’s completely sold on basketball games.

At the end of the game they lets kids go out on the court and make a shot. Norah and Colin went. Colin was a little frustrated that he didn’t make his shot but I told him who else can say that their first practice after breaking their wrist was on the court at Cassell. He has two more weeks and then he is cleared to play basketball.
