School

One month down of school.
5th grade started a little rough.  She did not like it at first but now she likes it.  She has some really good friends in her class so that helped.  Her teacher has a very sarcastic sense of humor, so it took Norah a few days to get used to that. And apparently others as well because she made a few kids cry and then started telling them that was sarcasm. So, it was a rough few weeks but she's into the grove now and her teacher is a fantastic teacher.  Besides the sarcasm might be the best teacher she's had academically in the past few years.  Besides me of course! ha!

8th grade is ok for Joel.  As he said no one changed their genders over the summer so theres that. He does have someone in his art class he cant tell whether they are a boy or a girl. He tried out for the football team.  Went two days.  Didn't go back the 3rd day.  He said he didn't want to do it.  He wanted to play defense and the defensive coach had told them there are all different coaches, went on to explain all the coaches and said that he was the A** Hole coach and after that Joel was like nope.  So we might sign him up for flag football in the spring if he's still interested. And surprise surprise he might like his math teacher from last year better than this years math teacher!  Although sometimes I wonder with Joel. Does he hate math just because he knows I have a math degree?  He loves to complain to me about it but then doesn't want me to do extra work with him. He loves his Spanish teacher and comes home singing all the songs. She puts everything to song and he is rapidly learning the language.

Colin is really enjoying his classes this semester.  He has a pretty easy schedule.  Math Analysis  is the only class he has homework for.  He is taking a dual enrollment class but thats all year.  And as they explained its a semester college class but they do it all year so its very slow paced.  Not sure how that is supposed to get them college ready but we will take the college credit.

Colin has joined a different swim team that meets at 5:30-7:30am so he's had to adjust a lot to getting up at 5 and then going to bed early.  He's worked hard and so far has had 100% attendance.  We just found out they are moving him up to a higher group tomorrow, so he is looking forward to that and having afternoon practices and a little more sleep.  They had said the earliest he could move up would be December, but his hard work has not gone unnoticed.

I am back to teaching kindergarten.  Its a lot different than high school.  We are finally in a routine and the kids are very cute but exhausting.  I get lots of hugs and sweet conversations daily.  One boy does fire me every day when he doesn't like what we tell him to do.  My kids are enjoying all the happenings in Kinder each night. It keeps them all entertained.

We tried to hold onto summer a little longer and took dinner out to the bay one-night last week. It was the perfect evening on the paddleboard before the fall weather came.
