Pink Eye

Norah got off the bus last week rubbing her eye and saying it hurt. It was pink and she said she kept wiping eye buggers out of it.   I immediately took her straight to the doctor.  Pink eye is not something we want to spread.
She looked so miserable on the way to the doctor. I just wanted to reach over and hug her but she wouldn't stop rubbing her infected eye. So I also wanted to keep her far from me!  Really its a miracle no one else got pink eye in our house.

We walked out of the doctor for a prescription and a day off from school the next day.  She was so upset to have to stay home. But the doctor said she could go to her gymnastics class the next night since it would be past the 24 hour contagious mark - as long as she took the medicine.  She was excited for that and that was the only way we were able to get her eye medicine in. We talked a lot about not rubbing or touching her eyes and if she did to wash her hands. I also wouldn't let her play with her doll house since we couldn't disinfect a lot of it.  Joel wouldn't let her in his room - he said their room was quarantined.

Last night as I was putting her to bed she leaned over and whispered "Mommy, don't rub your eye with your big thumb toe."

(hahaha - guess if mommy said not to touch your eye with your hands you try to find another way to itch your pink eye. Also love how she calls her big toe the big thumb toe)
