Cast

It seems like every time Colin breaks a bone someone else wants to join him. Last year it was Norah with her arm. This time its our neighbor.  She broke her arm so bad she now has 13 permanent screws and metal plate inside her arm. Poor thing! But really it has been nice for them to commiserate together and have someone going through the same things at the same time.

I dont think Brent realized how limiting it can be in that cast until Juliauna came over one day with her tylenol and said "Mr. Brent can you help me? I've been trying to get this open for the last 30 minutes and my mom isn't home."  Colin can't even cut up his food or pour himself a glass of orange juice.  He finally got to where he could put toothpaste on his tooth brush. Needless to say Colin has been counting down the minutes until he got his cast off.  He wasn't this excited last year so I know this one had to be more uncomfortable and limiting.

Colin and I go on daily walks.  When they are both together I'm sure some people do a double take.  One of our neighbors had a contractor working on their house and each time we passed him it looked like he wanted to ask why I had two kids in arm casts.

Cast free as of Tuesday.   And he is healing so well he went straight into a brace and not a short cast.  He was thrilled.

He still can't walk normally with his arm straight down.  His elbow is incredibly stiff and the doctor said that could take a few months to heal.  Colin does have to sleep in this brace so he's sad about that but its a lot more comfortable than that big cast.

Hopefully this is the last broken bone we will experience!
