Flying

This summer we were hoping to go to San Diego but it didn't work out for the dates that worked for Brent so instead we planned a trip to Colorado.  Its always been on our wish lists to take the kids one day. And it was perfect.  The best vacation.
Our vacation story actually starts the Sunday before we left.  Brent had gone to Redskins Training camp while Ant Ant took Colin on his much anticipated Christmas gift - rafting down the James river.  Colin said it was the best present ever.  She will have to try to top it for next year.

On the way home from Richmond they stopped at Busch Gardens to ride a few roller coasters.  And that's when Brents brand new iPhone flew out of his pocket.  And he keeps his drivers license in his phone case.  Two days before we get on an airplane to fly. He went to the DMV Monday morning and they gave him a piece of paper and said that would work....

Also that weekend we tried to renew Colin's inhaler.  He hasn't needed it all year but this summer has needed it a lot.  I looked at the expiration date and it was expired and wanted to make sure we had it for our Colorado vacation.  So we called the doctor and she wanted to see him since apparently it had been over a year since we had last been to her.  We had been going every 3 months and then went to twice a year and then yearly so she quickly got us in.
And Colins numbers were way down so he needed to go back on a twice a day inhaler.  His numbers were in the high 80% but now they are around 60% and summer usually isn't a trigger for him so we are hoping to get his numbers back up.  He was so upset.  We went to fill that prescription and it was $230 a month! So we called the doctor to see if there was a cheaper one and she had us bring Colin in to teach him a new inhaler hours before we flew out.  That one is only $179 a month but its our only option so we are on that one for 6 months and then we will reevaluate.
We got back from CHKD about 30 minutes before we had to head to the airport.  The kids were really excited to fly for the first time. Norah kept saying she got to fly at 7 and Colin had to wait until he was 13 to fly.

Brent had to be searched and patted down because he just had a piece of paper. And they had to search everything in the carry on.  That took forever. But eventually they let him through TSA
Norah was so cute. Everything was exciting and fun and fascinating.  She just sat and played and colored the whole way.

We had a layover in Orlando and tried to go to the food court but it took us out of the TSA area so Brent and to be searched again and this time much longer.
The only downside to our flying - besides not knowing if they would let brent through was our second flight took us into Colorado Springs at 12pm - 2am our time.  That was rough and the kids never want to fly at night again. Joel was the only one who slept.
