Snow

We finally got a decent snow. We woke up to a few inches of snow on Thursday.  No one knew what the protocols were for virtual school and a snow day.  But thankfully the school board gave the kids a much needed snow day and they were told to go outside and play. All the younger kids were outside early playing. The older kids came out later. Colin and the rest of the high schoolers had to log on and take their semester exams.

Chloe was taken outside to play. This poor piggy is loved almost too much. She just goes with it all. Until Joel and Norah try to tape cotton balls to her feet so they don’t get cold. She does draw the line at that.

New Years

Another new year.  Still feels like 2020 in this weird covid world.  We ate our black eyed peas and collard greens at Jeff's house.   Hoping to bring in lots of good luck and wealth this year.  Joel ate his peas but refused to eat any collards.  He said he tried collard greens for the first time last New Years day and he ended 2020 just as poor as he started out. I mean that could be attributed to covid, but he still refused to eat any.

Colin could eat black eyed peas! I think he ate 5 bowls. Poor thing has been so hungry.

But he got his stitches out! And felt immediate relief.  That night for the first time in over 3 weeks he went upstairs to play xbox and put his headset on to talk to his friends.  And since then he has been eating normally. He said his tongue was sore the first few days but now it feels normal. The oral surgeon said he had never seen this on the tongue before. We hope to never have it come back.

Jenga

Competition runs strong in this family

More snow fun

No sled,  no problem.  The day after Christmas the kids were up and out playing in the snow. The ground was icy and carboard worked just as good. Then Uncle Robbie came out and shoveled snow and packed down a sledding run for Grandpa's metal sled. They could sled from the front yard to the back yard.  They were out there most of the day. I don't have any pictures of that because I was inside holding a sleeping baby while she napped and I loved every minute of it.

The kids built a snowman named Gerald.

A few days later it was warm enough for short sleeves but Gerald is still there along with the sledding run last I heard.

Christmas Day

We woke up to a white christmas. The kids were very excited.

Another window, another donut!
Joel and Norah went out in the snow as soon as their stocking (trash bags) were opened.  Norah was convinced the snow would melt quickly and wanted to make sure she got to play in it. My poor beach kids.

They weren't out long. I think the high was 20 degrees and came in to open presents.

It snowed off and on in the morning. Norah said it looked like we were in a real snowglobe.

A year ago Colin wasn't as tall as Mama-maa.

After presents were opened we went outside and played in the snow. When you live on a mountain you don't have to go far to sled. Just down your front yard.

It was good to see this kid smile and enjoy the day.

Unfortunately the snow tube popped on the rocky ground.

Later in the afternoon Mary, Robbie, and Elizabeth came for the rest of the weekend. Elizabeth is the sweetest, most easy going baby.

It was a great Christmas.
