march birthdays

Yesterday was my moms birthday, tues is norah's birthday, wednesday is my dads, and my grandma has one the following week.  So we celebrated the march birthdays with a family lunch yesterday.  I didnt get one picture of all the birthday people together. I thought about it earlier but then forgot until everyone had left.  So next year we'll do yearly march birthday pictures but here is an overload of pictures of norah :)
I can't get over how adorable she is with a tutu walking around.

love it.  This skirt will be worn a lot this spring.
Norah has this excited face where she opens her mouth wide as she walks around.
Baby girl was excited for the cake
And got mad when Mommy had to take it away to cut it.
She was worried she wasn't going to get any but she got plenty and loved it.  She wasn't too messy with it but there is still blue icing on my wall that I have to scrub off.

It wasn't very pretty fron the outside - all the icing slid off but it did look like I wanted on the inside.
I love this one of everyone watching norah eat her cake. After 1 year its not as cute I guess :)  It was mom's birthday but I dont think she would've enjoyed us watching her eat!  ha!

Joel wants to take all norah's new toys and play with them himself.
this picture just makes me laugh. she wasn't buying what uncle jeff was doing.
Sweet girl we love you.  Last year I wanted you to share a birthday with your Ma-ma-ma.  You were due on your grandpa's birthday but I thought Ma-ma-ma's would be better.  I was done being pregnant.  Although your great grandma wanted you to be born on her birthday - no way was I going to let that happen :)  But you came at just the right time.  And now I have a few more days of having an 11 month old before you officially turn 1.

And a happy birthday to the other march birthdays.  Thanks everyone for coming and helping us celebrate Norah's first birthday.

Chicken and the egg

Walked by the dining room and this caught my eye. Made me laugh.

Ordinary days

I joined Instagram and at first didn't really use it but lately I've enjoyed capturing some of my favorite moments during the day. Moments that would've been gone by the time I went to grab the camera.

Navy

Colin has this old navy shirt that he is convinced is a real United States Navy shirt. He has no idea that a store called old navy exists. Once he got that in his head I haven't taken him to the old navy store. I love watching him look for his navy shirt and put on all his soldier gear and go outside in the backyard and fight bad guys. I was folding laundry today and realized the shirt is now too small for Colin. It will probably fit joel - both boys have had growth spurts this month. It's a little sad since Joel isn't into playing navy like Colin is so seeing him wear the shirt won't be the same.

You go to the hospital for a swallowed battery...come out with a nasty virus. But I was really impressed with our doctor this morning. She checked everything out on Norah. Even checked oxygen levels. Our last pediatrician never once did that with Colin even when he was having an asthma attack. Thankfully the virus is just something she caught at the hospital and not a result of the battery.

I love the extra snuggles. Hate seeing my baby feeling so bad.

Basketball

Basketball is my favorite sport. I like how they dribble up and down the court.

Thats the song Brent and Colin would sing each week.  And I think its true. We've found one of Colin's favorite sports.  Its the only sport he's played where he was really sad when it was over. The others it seemed like "ok that was fun now lets do something else" But he really really like basketball.

It ended last week and it was fun to watch the end when somehow Colin and Noah had to guard each other.  The picture above is how Colin guarded the other players during the season.  Notice the difference in the picture below when its your best friend. (a best friend who happens to be moving far far away in a few months.... we're all really sad about that one)
Elbows were out for both of them.  It was entertaining to watch. They didnt foul each other - at least that was called by the refs.

We're not doing baseball.  He hasn't mentioned it but once and it will be nice to have a break before swimming starts. We signed Joel up this year for the swim team. We're all looking forward to that.  And Colin and Brent are already talking about next years basketball season.

eating

My crazy girl

She passed the battery today.  And a piece of crayon.  Part of me wants to keep going through her poop to see what else she has eaten.  So far foil, one of Colin's teeth (we still haven't found it and I'm convinced after last night she ate it), a piece of crayon and a battery.   She does love to eat - crazy girl. But Norah - lets just keep it to food ok.

Tonight I rocked Norah to sleep and held her longer than normal.  A friend is a pediatric surgeon and he's the one I send text messages to his wife asking if the things she eats are ok :)  I didn't last night because I didn't really want to know the answer until we got to the hospital.  He talked to Brent today at a  meeting and said he had a child die on him once with a stuck battery.  Very thankful that wasn't the case for us last night.  Its really hard to make sure everything is put up and she eats the most random things - I didn't even know that flashlight unscrewed.  Its no wonder I keep finding gray hairs when I brush my hair this week.

I thought Joel kept us on our toes but I think Norah is going to surpass him very quickly.

She is worth every minute of it.

Anyone want to take a guess on what she eats next?

Batteries

So tonight we had an adventure that I'm hoping doesn't occur again but with my kids I'm pretty sure might happen again. Right before dinner Norah was playing with a flashlight and a few minutes later I looked over and the flashlight was unscrewed and tiny batteries were next to Norah. I quickly swiped her mouth, found nothing and then put the batteries back in the flashlight but 1 was missing. I looked everywhere and Norah seemed normal and thankfully Brent came home a few minutes later. He looked too and then I called the doctor. The doctor said to go straight to the emergency room even though we weren't sure if she actually swallowed it. So after a quick call to a friend we dropped the boys off and drove to the hospital. (thanks holly!) the boys were great and just went with the flow. We had another friend go pick up the boys (thanks Clemma! ) for what we thought might be a sleepover with their kids when it looked like we might be there a while waiting. The boys were a little disappointed when we got out of the hospital faster than we expected since they didn't get their sleepover. I was a mess and cried the whole way to the hospital but we found the battery. In Norah's intestines. But thankfully it passed the dangerous part and now we get to make sure it passes - hopefully it passes in the next few days or we have to go back and I guess they would go in and get it. One good thing is that Norah spent Sunday night throwing up and hadn't eaten all day so since that battery was the first food other than a few crackers it made the battery get so far in a short amount of time.

We did get what will be some expensive pictures :) but thankful it wasn't worse. And thankful for friends who live blocks away when things like this happens.

At least I have a cute reason why my house is never clean.  Add that to the Legos that end up  everywhere and you might want to watch where you walk in my house :)
