Girl Scout Camp

Norah joined Girl Scouts back in November. It hasn’t been anything we ever planned on doing but when she was having trouble in school (before we knew what was going on) a mom reached out and asked if Norah wanted to join their daisy troop. She said yes and the very first night walked right in and told me I could leave. So that was our first clue that her screaming and crying was school related.

She has loved girl scouts ever since. And this past weekend we went to girl scout camp at Camp Skimino.  I used to go to Camp Skimino when I was a girl scout many many years ago.
They kept us busy the entire weekend.  Because the Daisys are the youngest we got to sleep in the cabins but it was 16 bunks i think and no one slept much that night. Norah whispered to me when we were brushing our teeth that the girls had planned on pretending to go to sleep and then getting up and partying all night long. We had to leave our house at 6am and they kept us going until 9:30 that night so I knew they would all crash quick. I told Norah that was ok with me but that she had to lay down for a few minutes in her sleeping bag. All the girls were out quick but then moms took turns all night getting up with different girls to take to the bathrooms - we had to walk to the bathrooms. At one point Norah was crying in her sleep and a few girls had gotten cold so they tried to sleep in the same bunk. Norah ended up with me at 3am. So we were exhausted and tired coming home but it was well worth it.

Johnny

The other night I was putting the boys to sleep. Joel likes to snuggle - or really wrap your body with his legs to fall asleep so I was in his bed. It was quiet except for the sound machine. All of a sudden Joel lets out some machine gun farts. Then I hear Joel in a very serious voice yell out “Johnny!!!! Stop deflating the balloons!!!”

Colin and I burst out laughing. I think Colin laughed a solid 5 minutes before he could stop.

So now whenever Joel farts he will yell to Johnny to stop deflating the balloons

100th Celebration

A few weeks ago Brent and I got away for the night to celebrate 100 years of the Builders' Exchange.  Sarah has been planning this night for the past several years.  100 years of business is something to really celebrate. Her association has over 300 companies who are members so this was a really big night.
We picked up Holly after work and headed up to Richmond to celebrate.
Sarah is the executive director and put on a really great evening. The room was packed with people.

I just love this picture.  Brent: "Ok here's the plan." Jeff: ALL IN. Robbie "I'm not so sure but what the heck lets do it"

There was a cocktail hour and then a small program where they honored several members - some businesses have been members for all 100 years.  And then we ate and danced for the rest of the night. The live band was really fun.

Jill doesn't believe anything Jeff is trying to tell her.
Or whatever Brent is talking about! ha!

So fun to have Holly there
The ballroom doors opened at 7 and after the program we ate and danced the rest of the night.
Robbie saved the day with getting the video equipment all set up.  Robbie is now the favorite brother in law.
The event was at the historic Jefferson Hotel.  So beautiful.  We got a room for the night so we wouldn't have to drive home.  Holly and I were talking how this year so far we've stayed at Kingsmill and now the Jefferson. We are getting really fancy with our hotel stays this year.

It was a really great event and so well done. It was a huge success.
At the end we all went back to Sarahs room to watch the end of the Tech basketball game.

Mom and Dad came to watch the kids and Ma-ma-maa and Norah worked on her fairy garden. Shes been out there for hours since playing in it.

On our way home from Richmond we picked up this sweet baby and her momma.  Kristopher is deploying for 10 months and was at training so Bethany and Ellie came down for the weekend. It was really fun having a baby in the house again.

She learned that if she raises her hands everyone raised their hands.  It was a fun game.
It was a full weekend but filled with lots of fun.
